Mission

The mission of AirQualityFactors.com is to be the most authoritative and usable source of knowledge available on the systemic factors affecting air quality in the environment and quality of life. Our objectives include serving as a valuable resource for research on air quality and quality of life as well as making our subject matter experts and their knowledge available and known on the web.

AirQualityFactors.com is a collaboration of experts and practitioners serving as a source of knowledge about factors affecting air quality and its impact on a region’s quality of life. Our goal is to serve as an expert resource for industry, government, non-profit organizations and the public on subjects including the science and assessment of air quality; the important factors that affect air quality and quality of life, including economic and demographic factors, legislation, regulation, policy and technology factors; and, specific sources of air toxics contributing to air pollution and their trends. Our initial focus is on the Houston metropolitan area, with other U.S. cities and regions to follow.

Initiatives to improve air quality and reduce pollution by the public, government, environmental organizations and businesses are important and have good intentions that are ultimately aimed at improving the quality of life for residents. However, these initiatives often overlook the entire scope of the problem and its systemic causes and thereby risk falling short of the objective; or, worse, may cause unwanted or harmful adverse effects and conditions. What's needed is a more comprehensive source of knowledge for those who are interested or concerned about the factors affecting air quality and the quality of life.

Our collaboration brings together a select group of subject matter experts with diverse backgrounds and affiliations, including industry, government and academia, who are offering their insight and knowledge for all aspects of this topic with a goal to develop an authoritative and easily usable reference and resource on the web. Our objectives include making the knowledge and expertise of our individual subject matter experts visible, known and referenced.
